Na okraji Pardubic začaly přípravné práce na velkém projektu nové multifunkční hokejové arény. Nová aréna má být zhruba 60 metrů vysoká a vejde se do ní až 22 296 diváků. Nyní jsou největší hokejové haly světa SKA Arena v Petrohradu a Bell Centre v Montrealu. Stavbu financuje jediný investor – společnost MHAP s.r.o., kterou vlastní miliardář Petr Dědek. Ten je také většinovým vlastníkem hokejového klubu HC Dynamo Pardubice. Kromě hlavní haly zde bude také menší tréninková hala, hokejové muzeum a fan shop. Součástí projektu bude také luxusní hotel, parkoviště, park, cyklostezka a pěší stezka z centra Pardubic. Petr Dědek chce, aby byla nová aréna hotová v srpnu 2027. Cena projektu bude asi deset a půl miliardy korun.
