Crossing Paths – Episode 2: Tell Me Everything
It’s Tuesday morning. The office is already busy when Helen arrives. Keyboards clicking. Phones ringing. She sits down at her desk and tries to focus, but the words on the screen don’t make sense. She can’t concentrate. Across the room, Clara walks in, takes one look at her… and knows something happened.
Clara: You look terrible. Are you okay?
Helen: Wow. So sweet of you. Nah, I’m fine.
Clara: No, you’re not. What’s going on?
Helen: Okay… I ran into someone yesterday.
Clara: Alright… someone good or someone bad?
Helen: I’m not sure.
Clara: (sits down) Now I’m definitely interested.
Helen: Do you remember I once told you about Thomas?
Clara: That Thomas?
Helen: Yes. That Thomas.
Clara: Wait. No. You’re kidding.
Helen: I’m not. We bumped into each other in the street.
Clara: After how many years?
Helen: Almost nine.
Clara: And?
Helen: And… we’re meeting for coffee on Saturday.
Clara: Hah, wow. That was fast.
Helen: It’s just coffee.
Clara: Hah, sure. So… how did he look?
Helen: Good… well, he changed a lot. We both did, I guess.
Clara: Aha. And what about Mark?
Helen: What about him?
Clara: Well… he’s been texting you every day.
Helen: That’s his problem. I’m not getting back together with him after what he did.
Clara: I see.
[Helen’s phone vibrates on the desk.]
Helen: Speak of the devil.
Clara: Mark? What does he want?
Helen: He wants to “talk.”
Clara: I don’t know, I’m kind of jealous of you. You’re like a magnet.
Helen: Hah, yeah, right.
